Your group blog

your group blog will feature links to your personal blogs

they will be marked as evidence of all work completed by the group

they will replace your portfolio as far as possible; your group blog URL will be sent to the exam board as evidence of group planning and production

paper evidence submitted will be limited - see below

the youtube link to your final music video will be included, as will links to test footage, shot trials etc. the more evidence of technical decisions and revisions, the better

your final album cover will also feature, as can test shots etc

it will be essential to blog everything you do as a group as far as possible.
for example, it should include:

minutes of meetings
daily/ weekly group diary entries
group ideas
your band/artist descriptions
advance planning
treatments, shooting scripts, schedules
questions and communications between the group

shot lists, re-shoot lists, capture lists, sketches and storyboards do not have to be posted but there should be evidence of discussions around these key processes and summaries of the key points in relation to them.

these will be submitted on paper as usual; keep all work done by hand in the hard copy group folder.

the M drive folders will contain templates as usual

don't waste time typing up as you go along; you only need to submit samples

Your personal blog

use your personal blog to create your research and early planning portfolio
limited paper evidence will be submitted
you should include analysis, video links and images, web links etc
make it as visual and analytical as possible
keep it focussed - quantity is not the issue here

your lessons will be the springboard for your research and planning. the lessons are planned to inspire your research in various directions and to get your planning underway

your personal blog will replace the individual research and planning section of your portfolio as far as possible. they will provide a significant part of the evidence for the individual contribution marks

your blog URL will be sent to the exam board as evidence of work completed.

areas to research:
music videos
album covers
tracks
a chosen artist or artists
a music video director
a chosen genre
other inspirational media or art
promotion and marketing case studies - how an artist has used myspace, for example
indie record labels
a music channel, station or magazine

early planning:
your own initial ideas for tracks, music videos, shots, actors, locations, treatments etc

not too much detail here as the majority of planning should be done by the group and shown on the group blog

the posts on your personal blog are to demonstrate evidence of your personal research, ideas and suggestions before the group settle on a final idea

once the group have chosen a track and the project is underway, you will all post to the main project blog. however you can still continue to add extra stuff to your personal blog.
